"The boys are back in town"

The annual ‘Murmuration’ of Mullet, at the Winterbourne stream outlet into the River Ouse in Railway Land Lewes, is in full swing. There are about 250 individuals there at the moment but as they recover from their fungal infections and wounds gained while at sea spawning they move out of the healing spring water and others move in. Look out for surprise attacks from predators such as mink, cormorants, pike and seals and report fishermen here to the council land owners as fishing is not allowed and of course the fish need this spa treatment to survive.

Best viewing is about 3hrs after high tide and my BBC SPRINGWATCH film can be viewed here;
