'Sleeping Butterflies of the South Downs'

A Walk & Talk is booked for Monday evening up behind the Lewes Golf club in the flower rich meadows. Read on and follow the link to book a place to come up there with me.

There are all sorts of butterflies here during July but the first of great interest to me

are the Marbled Whites.

I shan't spoil your trip by explaining all now but trust me, it's a fascinating subject that I have discovered over the years and this year I am making a film about it.

This shot was taken at 5am as the sun came up over the hill but it can be equally rewarding at 8pm

in the evening when the sun hasn't quite gone down, as they settle to sleep.

We meet at 7.30pm Monday 4 July, at the golf club on the top of Chapel Hill Lewes. It's a fairly steep walk up the road but the views are magnificent. If it's just a short taxi ride if it's a difficulty for you and once up there the walk is a flat footpath with just a five minute stroll with the Sky larks singing.

There are 6 places only so as not to disturb the creatures too much but don't despair if all the places have gone, I shall simply put on more walks if required. Bye for now, Steve
