Mackerel Madness, the Movie.

Good morning all. I thought you might like to see a movie I have just made to cheer up this dark morning. It's 4.30am and I can't sleep as I have a new toy.

I have started a YouTube channel and have a video editing app. The YouTube link is on my 'CONTACT' page if you would like to look and please click on the SUBSCRIBE button if you like it. Meanwhile, here's the movie I have just made. It's a group of short videos and stills spliced together from one day at Seaford beach. The annual Mackerel verses Whitebait feeding frenzy lasts a month or more but once every year or two you might get lucky, as I did in 2021, and witness something very spectacular. If the wind has been from the north for a few days the water is flat calm and all the sediment particles settle on the seabed and the water is clear. If then the wind swings around to come in from the south, the waves pick up, and for just a few hours before the sediments from the bottom get stirred up and cloud the water, you can look right into the sea through the crests of the waves!

I think my favourite still shot is the one of a mackerel surfing a wave with the whitebait inside. The speed of the wave rolling toward me, as well as the mackerel surfing right to left made it impossible to focus correctly but fingers crossed I might be able to get a better camera this year. Actually I have to! The salt water spray go inside my Nikon and destroyed it!
